Dominique Venner (1935–2013) was a French writer, historian, and man of action. He served as an infantryman during the Algerian War and was subsequently jailed for 18 months for conspiracy against French President Charles de Gaulle. After his release, he launched the movement and publication Europe-Action, later joined by the founder of the New Right organisation GRECE, Alain de Benoist. Venner then devoted himself to historical and metapolitical writing, authoring over fifty books and launching several historical magazines, most notably La Nouvelle Revue d’Histoire. Arktos has published Venner’s The Shock of History, For a Positive Critique, Ernst Jünger: A Different European Destiny, and his final testament, Samurai of the West.
